Shop Smart, Shop Locally, Shop Henry...Everybody's Hometown!
The
Henry Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Henry would like to
encourage local residents to shop locally. Shopping locally will
encourage job demand/stability, decrease the likelihood for future
tax increases, and increased products and services within the
community, are just a few reasons to Shop Henry.
Please
consider that the local economy works in a circular motion. The
more we spend in the local economy, the more the local economy gives
back to the residents of Henry with increased job stability/growth
and the potential of new goods and services to the area that were
previously unavailable. Shopping locally will limit travel costs to
local consumer.
Sales
tax revenue for the City of Henry was down approximately 12 percent
through Oct 2009 based on the five-year average from 2004-2008.
Over the last six years, the City government only earned $64-$80 per
person per year in sales tax revenue. This is based on population
figures of the 2000 U.S. Census report for all citizens living in
the 61537 zip code. If we can help increase this range, it may
decrease the chance of tax rate increases in the future.
The
Chamber of Commerce and the City of Henry would also like to remind
residents of the importance of completing the 2010 US Census Bureau
survey. Please help yourselves and your neighbors by supporting the
local business community.
